Diagnosis!
So, the world-renowned neuro-pathologist has determined that the inflammation in PenDell’s brain is being caused by something called Primary Angiitis of the central nervous system. It is a rare form of vasculitis. Apparently only two in a million people get it (I know, we all thought he was one in a million)!
The treatment for it is steroids and a couple of other things that I am still looking into.
So, that is “good” news.
The really good news is that he is getting better every day since he started the steroids. He is awake and finding more words each day. He is more tuned into his body and able to respond to commands.
Two days in a row the therapists have used a standing contraption where they put a sling up under him and stand him up… he LOVES that! Then he has spent some time sitting in the recliner instead of in the bed… another welcome change for him.
I played the recording of him singing and he started conducting and singing along!
I do believe that we are on our way. I see him whole, healed and singing! I will continue to update as this journey unfolds.
Much love to each of you,
Melanie
